Q: Are windshield replacements free?
A: Windshield replacement is Not free, however is of no cost to the insured. Florida State law dictates that the deductible is waived for a glass claim that meets the minimal insurance requirements.
627.7288 Comprehensive coverage; deductible not to apply to motor vehicle glass.—The deductible provisions of any policy of motor vehicle insurance, delivered or issued in this state by an authorized insurer, providing comprehensive coverage or combined additional coverage shall not be applicable to damage to the windshield of any motor vehicle covered under such policy.
Q: What is my warranty, and who’s responsible for it?
A: The warranty is offered by the company that you hire to perform your replacement, and may differ between them. Insurance companies offer no warranty what so ever. The Glass Shop warranty is explained here.
Q: Can I be charged for the replacement.
A: If you chose a “cash” job over a claim to your insurance, you will pay the agreed upon rate for the replacement.
On “insurance claims” once the Insurance company accepts your claim, you may NOT be charged for the replacement. All billing is done between the insurance company and the glass shop.
